KA, Karlos Arguiñano’s Hotel Restaurant, is a family business that began with the opening of the restaurant in 1979.

A young Arguiñano, immersed in the revision and revolution of the traditional Basque recipe book, together with many other masters of Basque gastronomy, was putting forward a healthier and more modern gastronomic proposal in his own restaurant. The new Basque cuisine, that culinary revolution that combines tradition and the avant-garde, has always been and continues to be the basis of Karlos Arguiñano’s cuisine.

In 1990, Karlos and Luisi expanded the business by opening the hotel with a total of 12 rooms that still retain the essence of the Villa Aiala.

The hotel, located in exceptional surroundings, is situated in a privileged enclave: right on the beach of Zarauz. The sound of the waves and the sea views make the hotel a dream place where guests can relax and rest like nowhere else. A unique combination of family atmosphere, warm decoration, cosy spaces and friendly service make every visitor feel at home.

The Arguiñano family currently runs Villa Aiala, where Karlos Arguiñano’s Hotel Restaurant is located.

Karlos and Luisi are gradually delegating the management of the project to five of their children, who have been involved in the family project for as long as they can remember. After 20 years of living together, of Karlos’ continuous success on television, of teaching and learning between father/mother and children… the generational turn over comes. The children take over the baton. However, after 45 years, Karlos and Luisi are still present in the project.

Villa Aiala, OVER 120 years of history.

The old stone mansion, with a stately appearance and known as Villa Aiala, is now Karlos Arguiñano’s Hotel Restaurant.

Its environment and surroundings; the aroma of the sea, of the mountain air, of a cuisine with character; of flavours that thrill; the feel of soft sheets, of the breeze on the skin, smooth and soft after a walk on the beach; the sound of the sea waves, a delicate melody that lulls you to rest.
